The Sony Vaio C Series Review

The Sony Vaio C Series range is at the trendier, friendlier end of the spectrum of these high end laptop computers. Models like the Sony Vaio C Series Orange show flare and creativity is also available alongside classy charm and powerful components, so today the eye of scrutiny is falling on the cheaper options in this range, the Sony C Series 14.

While the Sony website allows you to configure your C Series 14 laptop to your specific requirements, choosing everything from the exterior colour to the internal hardware, other outlets will not give you this choice, thus keeping the price fixed. As such the model considered here is the most basic edition to give you an idea of what you might find for around £600.

Inside you get an Intel Core i3 processor clocked at 2.10GHz. This gives you the perfect balance between number crunching grunt and energy efficiency. The battery life can vary greatly depending not only on what tasks you carry out but also on the power consumption of the processor, so picking this model with Intel's latest CPU is sensible. 4GB of DDR3 RAM is another standard feature that should inspire some desire, while the integrated graphics from Intel are adequate for most needs, albeit a little lacking when it comes to gaming.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit edition is preinstalled on the Sony Vaio C Series Orange, along with various additional software extras like Office 2010 Starter and trial editions of Adobe's Photoshop and Premier editing suites, which is a nice touch. You can store all of your documents and media files on the 320GB hard drive, which is adequately cavernous provided you have use of a portable backup drive or a main PC in your home should you need extra space.

The Vaio C Series 14 comes with a 14 inch LCD display sporting a resolution of 1366x768, giving you a crisp, vibrant window into the world of your new computer. A DVD drive is included, along with an HDMI output should you want to watch something on the larger screen of your HDTV at home, or indeed hook it up to a projector for a presentation. Wi-Fi will get you online without the need for an Ethernet cable while Bluetooth 3.0 is on hand to help you connect peripherals and share data between your laptop and your mobile phone.

Like many Vaio laptops this particular model is effortlessly stylish, with its premium finish not only including a colour-coded chassis but also an ambient backlit keyboard to make the simple act of typing feel futuristic. A webcam built into the laptop above the display is the final essential feature, so even in its stock arrangement this is a computer to covet.

You can pick up the Sony Vaio C Series online at a number of reputable retailers, although prices will fluctuate and offers may arise, so taking your time and considering a number of options is the way to get the best deal.
